Extra Credit Blog--Supersize Me

I watched the documentary “Supersize Me”.

First of all that man has more determination than I do. I would have lasted about a day.
Today the media has made it plainly known that Mcdonalds is bad for you. McDonalds neatly packages all the bad things about food in one package. The consequences of McDonalds and other processed foods are something that shouldn’t be taken lightly. When the doctors were asked if people should eat fast food, you could just tell they wanted to bluntly say “No!” Instead they said that fast food can be eaten as long as a healthy lifestyle as incorporated, as if fast food has anything to do with a healthy lifestyle. It’s like obeying the speed limit most of the time, but doing 95 on the interstate every once and a while. The two things don’t go together.

One thing I thought was intriguing was the man who eats big macs all the time. He eats a big mac with every meal, but hardly has any health problems and is not obese. It points to the particular parts of McDonalds food that is unhealthy. Things like their fries, coke, and other sugary products appear to be what hurts people the most.

Just a side note, my family back home raises grass-fed livestock. This is a healthier alternative to other processed meat. At one point my father told me that I could not work for a fast food chain (besides Wendys) because of the poor quality of their food.

Blog 8 Final Reflection

For my degree I need only two WRD classes. English class and writing have always been more of a chore to me, but I must admit I enjoy reflective writing to an extent. This class exceeded all my expectations while having a greater workload than I anticipated. I enjoyed how the class made me think.
It was not without its challenges. I had to learn to have long flowing writing. I had not previously written more than four pages in a paper so these new assignments challenged me to extend the limits of my writing abilities.
Even though this was not my easiest class, I still found success in some areas. The documentary that I made was interesting and meaningful to accomplish. It helped me connect with the community and gave me a greater appreciation for those who make videos on a regular basis.

The most important part of this class in my opinion was how it makes you think. I was introduced to new people and to how the world works a little more. This class he,ps reinforce how mankind is similar despite the differences in ways of life. It has taught me that life is more than what I’m presented with from other people and the media. People are not always portrayed as they are in reality and deserve respect.
